Kathmandu, 23 September: A writ petition has been filed in the Supreme Court (SC) against Speaker Agni Sapkota and Deputy Speaker Pushpa Bhusal.
Advocates Kishore Paudel and Anupam Bhattarai have filed a writ claiming that the terms of office of Speaker Sapkota and Deputy Speaker Bhusal have expired on the day before the closed list for Proportional Representation (PR) system was submitted to the Election Commission. According to the constitution and the past practice, it has been claimed in the writ that the post of Speaker and Deputy Speaker will be vacant from the same day.
It is mentioned in the writ that it is against the constitution to continue using state resources, facilities and services even after the term of office of Speaker and Deputy Speaker has expired. The SC has fixed hearing on the writ for today, as per the reports.
