Tourism entrepreneurs excited by the two-day holiday

Tourism entrepreneurs are excited after the government added a public holiday on Sunday. Entrepreneurs are expected to increase the number of domestic tourists during the two consecutive days off.

Entrepreneurs hope that the tourism sector, which has been weighed down by the Corona infection, will return to normal. In the past, the number of tourists coming to stay overnight was increasing when they were on leave for two days at a time. They had been demanding leave on Sunday as well.

Tourism entrepreneur Biplav Poudel, who has been working in the tourism sector, says that they had always demanded two days leave. Poudel, manager of Hotel Barahi in Meghauli, Pokhara and Chitwan, said that the number of tourists would increase from homestay to big hotels. He said, “It will set the economic sector moving again.”

Poudel says that after two days of wandering and having fun, the work done for five days will be better with enthusiasm and vigor. Chairman of the Regional Hotel Association Chitwan, Deepak Bhattarai, says that the number of tourists has increased by 50 % in the previous two days compared to other days. He said that the holiday has benefited for the tourists who previously lacked of suitable time for domestic tourists to travel. He said, “Compared to other days, the number of tourists increases on holidays, and when there are two days of holidays together, the number of tourists definitely increase.”

Bhattarai said that he expects the tourism sector to be better than before with the two-day holiday. He informed that the response were positive as soon as the leave started. Entrepreneurs expect this holiday to increase family travel. Gunaraj Thapaliya, general secretary of the regional hotel association, says that the number of people  calling to understand and book through telephone has started increasing. Being in the center of the country, it is easy to come from many neighboring districts to spend a night in Sauraha. Thapaliya said that good results will come in a few weeks as one can stay in one night stay and participate in interesting activities here.

With the decrease in the number of foreign tourists, the tourism sector here has become internal. Tourists mainly visit Pokhara, Lumbini, Chitwan, Kathmandu and other areas in Nepal. Entrepreneurs estimate that the tourist pressure in these areas will increase during the holiday on Sunday.

Hotel Narayani Resort Gaindakot director Basanta Parajuli says the two-day leave will have a positive impact on the tourism sector. He said, “The practice of going out with family on vacation is increasing.” He has the experience of filling the hotel with domestic tourists in the past public and long holidays.

Tourism expert Bishwa Subedi says the two-day leave will have a positive impact on the tourism sector. He said, “There is time to go for a walk. One day I have to do housework and the next day I have to go for a walk. ” He said that this will make it easier to visit the nearby tourist areas.
