Kathmandu, 20 May: Uzra Zeya, the State Department Under Secretary for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights and coordinator for the Tibetan affairs is arriving today from New Delhi.
This will be the first high-level visit of the American officials in the past ten years.
Nepal and the USA are celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations following the ratification of the MCC grant project from Parliament.
Zeya had landed in New Delhi on Tuesday. On Wednesday, she had reached Dharamshala to meet the Dalai Lama. She had also held meetings with Penpa Kchering, chief of the Tibetan government in exile and other representatives of the Dalai Lama.
Zeya is scheduled to meet the Nepal government’s authorities and representatives of the Tibetan refugees during her stay in Kathmandu.
