Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota said that he has been paying serious attention to the recent public incidents of sexual violence and called on the government to take legal action against the perpetrators and compensate the victims.
During the ongoing discussion on the priorities and principles of the Appropriation Bill for the coming Fiscal Year, Nepali Congress MP Gagan Kumar Thapa drew the attention of the Speaker.
On the basis of MP Thapa’s attention, Speaker Sapkota has directed to bring the perpetrators of sexual violence under the ambit of action.
After the victim made public the allegation that a young woman was sexually assaulted in the name of modelling a few years ago, action has been demanded against the culprit. Rights activists have protested in front of the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar today demanding action against the culprits.
