Chitwan, May 21
Three persons died in a storm in the Chitwan district of southern Nepal on Friday evening.
Two persons riding in an autorickshaw died after being crushed by a tree that fell to the storm at Bhojad of Bharatpur-11 whereas another person died at Baseni, according to police. The third person was also riding in a van during the accident.
The District Police Office spokesperson Narahari Ghimire says all the victims died on the spot.
One victim at Bhojad has been identified as Pradeep Kumar Lama (50), a local, whereas the second woman appearing to be of the same age is yet to be identified.
Abita Gurung and Tulmaya Gurung have sustained injuries and are undergoing treatment at the Purano Medical College, Bharatpur.
The victim at Baseni has been identified as Loknath Neupane (48), a local.
Meanwhile, the storm broke some electricity poles on the Narayani bridge in Narayangadh. The transmission of Synergy FM 91.6 MHz got disrupted as its tower also broke in the disaster.
