Australian PM Morrison accepts defeat

Kathmandu, May 21. Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison accepted his election defeat on Saturday.

Morrison acted quickly even though a half of votes are yet to be counted. He said he did so because the Australian prime minister is to attend Tokyo Summit on Tuesday.

He said, “I believe it’s very important that this country has certainty. I think it’s very important this country can move forward.”

Morrison’s Liberal Party coalition was seeking a fourth three-year-term. But the vote counts from early Saturday showed his party was likely to get few seats.

Opposition leader Anthony Albanese is likely to be appointed the next prime minister of Australia. His Labor party has promised financial assistance, increase on minimal wages, social safety net and reduction of greenhouse gases.

According to the Australian Electoral Commission, millions of people in Australia cast early or postal ballots due to travel or work purposes.
