Three women candidates have been defeated in Syanjga. The women candidates who stood in the local level election in Putlibazar Municipality of Syangja, Arjun Chaupari Municipality and Kaligandaki Municipality lost.
Seema Kumari Chhetri was nominated again as the head of Putlibazar municipality, Chinmaya Gurung as the chairman of Arjunchaupari village municipality and Maya Rana as the chairman of Kaligandaki village municipality. Chhetri, who was nominated by the CPN-UML for the post of Putlibazar mayor, is the former mayor. Chhetri, who defeated Tulsiram Regmi of the Nepali Congress in the election of 2017 AD, is now defeated by him.
Regmi, who is contesting from the Nepali Congress, got 12,494 votes and was elected as the mayor of Putlibazar while the defeated Chhetri got 10,090 votes.
Similarly, Gurung, who was contesting for the post of Arjun Chaupari village chairman, lost to Prakash Tiwari of Nepali Congress. Vijayi Tiwari got 5,291 votes while his rival Gurung got 3,347 votes. Gurung was elected as the vice-chairman of the village municipality in 2017 AD.
Rana, who was nominated by the Nepali Congress for the post of Kaligandaki village chairman, has lost to UML candidate Khim Bahadur Thapa. Thapa won the election with 6,700 votes while Rana lost with 5,055 votes.
In the election of 2017 AD, Thapa was elected as the chairman of the village municipality. This is his second term. In the previous election, Chhetri was the sole female candidate in Putlibazar municipality of Syangja.
